Main purpose of the job:

The Fire Safety Advocate is tasked with supporting the Group Fire Safety Manager in the development and delivery of the Group Fire Safety Strategy:

  • The day-to-day implementation of the fire safety policy and fire safety management plan.
  • Reporting of non-compliance with legislation, policies and procedures to the Associate Director of Estates.
  • Programme, complete and record lower risk fire risk assessments
    Main duties of the job:

The Fire Safety Advocate for the Salford Care Organisation will provide fire safety advice to the Care Organisation (CO), Estates Managers and General Manager for Estates and Facilities.

Liaise with the Group Fire Safety Manager and provide any assistance and advice necessary to support in the delivery of fire safety initiatives across the respective care organisation.


  • Support the driving of change in the fire safety and awareness.
  • Support with all daytoday fire safety matters across the Salford Care Organisation and support with the implementation of the NCA Fire Safety Management Plan across the EF&C department, clinical areas, and back of house departments.
  • The post holder is expected to work using their own initiative and on projects whilst working to agreed standards and within approved policies and procedures. They will be required to assess the best way to fulfil their responsibilities and achieve their objectives with guidance from the Group Deputy Director of Estates/Chair of Fire Strategy Group.
  • Provide a link to relevant Salford Care Organisation committees and other stakeholder meetings as required.
  • To support the execution of ongoing fire compliance related projects at the Salford CO to include attending meetings, provide advice, monitor and check on contractor's performance and undertake relevant risk assessments following completion of works.
  • Provide assurances to the Fire Strategy Group that the Salford Care Organisation properties under the management of third parties are fire safety compliant.
  • Programme, complete, record and devise suitable action plans for fire risk assessments and ensure that risks identified are shared with the Group Fire Safety Manager as appropriate.
  • Review fire related incidents and fire alarm activation investigations.
  • Support the Health & Safety Advisors to promote Health and Safety as an integral part of good management practice.
  • Liaise with the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) in respect of inspections, site visits and fire calls.
