Description

The role of the Nursery Cook is to provide nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared meals for the children and to be totally responsible for the safe and hygienic management of the nursery kitchen as well as adhering to allergies.

You will be cooking for a maximum of 84 children per day.


Main Responsiblities to include:


  • To take responsibility for personal compliance and align with Company Health and Safety Policies, ensuring safe working practices are maintained which minimise the risk to self, work colleagues, parents and children.
  • To prepare and present a freshly cooked lunchtime meal including a dessert for the nursery staff to serve to the children. The Nursery Cook must also provide suitable alternatives to accommodate for children with allergies, particular dietary requests and those who observe religious beliefs.
  • To adhere to the 'Safer food better business' standards and record keeping.
  • To prepare and store a light tea for the nursery staff to serve in the afternoon to the children, again following specific requests made by parents
  • To work with the Nursery Manager to plan a well balanced, healthy and fresh menu.
  • To complete food orders within the allocated budget and the appropriate timescales for deliveries.
  • To adhere strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
  • On a weekly basis the Nursery Cook should deep clean the kitchen.
  • On an ongoing basis the Nursery Cook should wash out and thoroughly clean all fridges, freezers and cookers.
  • Liaise with the Nursery Manager to determine the season's menu.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE (Essential)

  • To be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team using initiative at all times
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to follow written instructions
  • Experience of using all appliances and tools necessary in the preparation and delivery of food
  • Experience of planning, recording, monitoring and evaluating e.g. food budgets,
  • Experience of a nursery cook job role
  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level
  • First Aid qualification

Salary:
Up to £25,300.00 per year
