Lead PHP Developer | PHP, Laravel, React | Bristol | Hybrid (1 day per week in the office) | Up to £65,000 | SaaS Company


Yolk Recruitment are working with an expanding SaaS company in Bristol looking for an experienced PHP Engineer looking to step up into a technical leadership role to join their Agile product development team.


As Technical Lead you will provide day to day management for the development team, champion best coding practice while remaining hands on with the code.

Their current tech stack consists of PHP (Laravel), MySQL, React.

They're operating hybrid working with 1 day per week / fortnight in their Bristol office.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Writing highquality code across all layers of the companies SaaS products
  • Ensuring the team consistently delivers software to a high standard, using modern, Agile practices
  • Mentoring others in clean code, refactoring and use of practices such as TDD
  • Documenting highlevel designs for new products and features, in collaboration with the CTO and Product Manager
  • Working closely with the CTO and DevOps Engineer to define strategy and promote technical excellence.

Skills Required:


  • Strong PHP skills 5+years' commercial experience
  • Excellent knowledge of software architecture and design patterns
  • Highly skilled at writing clean code and refactoring mercilessly
  • Modern JS frameworks ideally React
  • Good knowledge of MySQL and database design
  • Ability to define and improve Agile practices, through small endtoend stories that deliver value quickly
  • Ability to mentor and coach others, giving constructive feedback and gaining buyin for techniques from the whole team
