Tradewind Recruitment collaborates with an 'outstanding' mixed academy in the London borough of Hounslow, actively seeking a Facilities Assistant.

This role involves ensuring a safe, clean, and appealing learning environment as part of a dedicated team responsible for maintaining the site's security, health, and safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on Academy premises and facilities as needed.
  • Liaise with external contractors onsite.
  • Maintain the Academy grounds, keeping the site clear of litter and regularly emptying bins.
  • Monitor cleanliness in toilets and replenish soap, toilet tissue, and roller towels as required.
  • Open up or lock/secure the Academy premises, depending on the shift.
  • Assist the site team in arranging furniture for exams and Academy events.
  • Report lights needing replacement, graffiti, or broken fixtures and fittings to the Site Manager.
  • Be vigilant for health and safety hazards.
  • Ensure prompt cleaning, disinfection, and safety measures for any spillages.
  • Deputize for the Facilities Manager during absences or annual leave.
  • Complete tasks within the assigned area of responsibility as requested by the line manager.
  • Attend all appropriate Academy and Federation meetings and events when required.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Training:

  • Basic awareness of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Understanding of maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Experience working in a school (desirable).
  • DIY knowledge.

Personal Skills & Qualities:

  • Good practical skills.
  • Ability to monitor and order stocks of materials.
  • Capability to handle emergencies.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
To be successful in this role, you need to:

  • Hold a high-level degree.
  • Obtain an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable), and professional reference checks (refundable after 20 days of working with Tradewind).
  • Submit a comprehensive CV covering 10 years of employment.
  • Have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
