Job summary:

  • This is a varied and exciting new role, in an awardwinning function within a great Government Department. We can offer you the chance to join a talented and friendly team and take on early responsibility for your own portfolio of work, which spans internal communications, people and organisational development, and our agenda for change. We offer a supportive working environment, a commitment to your skills development and career progression and we recognise and reward capability. This is a great time to join us and use your influence to help shape our agenda.

Job description:

  • You will provide support for the Commercial Change Governance meetings, helping to set the agenda, and taking notes and working with the Chair of these meetings to commission papers and keep track on project delivery.
  • You will also support the Culture and Wellbeing Group, helping to oversee the delivery of their work programme, and supporting their meetings, including setting agendas, commissioning papers, and readying members to report back senior managers on progress.
  • Manage DgC's internal communications and engagement plan including planning, commissioning and drafting communications (bulletins, newsletters), planning our monthly all staff calls, awaydays and face to face meetings to an agreed brief.
  • Work with our recruitment partners on our recruitment campaigns, in terms of planning, liaising with hiring managers, and supporting the onboarding of new staff.
  • Provide the Senior Management Team with insight derived from people data and other Management Information (MI), to help them with future workforce planning.
  • Assist drafting the annual functional plan and business planning processes.

Person specification:

In previous roles we expect you will have:

  • Led and supported delivery of projects or distinct area of work to a successful outcome with clear benefits.
  • Formed positive working relationships with colleagues including influencing and challenging to gain the best outcome. You may have some line management experience, but this is not necessary.
  • Experienced drafting a variety of text independently and be able to edit and review text drafted by others. So, you will need to be literate, and be able to write in plain English, and for different audiences.
  • Have had experience of situations where you have needed to be wellorganised, managed your time well, and delivered a quality service or product on time and within resource constraints.
  • Attended meetings to gain decisions including setting agendas, leading on items and recording actions and decisions. You may have previous experience of chairing meetings, but that is not necessary.
  • Analysed data, presented your insight, including recommendations to senior managers.
  • Supported colleagues, training them as appropriate to help support them with the knowledge and skills to deliver their work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Invested in your own development which might have included keeping up to date with best practice or developing industry knowledge.
