Position Purpose

  • Managing a small team of engineers/technicians to deliver preventative and corrective maintenance to support laboratory and clinical scale manufacturing operations. Key customer interface for the science operations in the one of Pfizer's leased buildings at Discovery Park Sandwich, with further opportunities to expand responsibility to the manufacturing facilities based at Discovery Park. Role includes performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks alongside team members.
  • Liaises with the customer groups to understand equipment & facility issues impacting to manufacturing and science, implements solutions utilising knowledge of approved procedures and best practices for safety and compliance in a cGMP environment. Key leadership role within the engineering team, acting as a coordinator and a mentor to others, supervising technical engineers to complete corrective works and small projects ensuring delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Member of the GWS Engineering Leadership Team developing and implementing the future direction of the engineering team. Role reports into the Maintenance Manager, key part of future succession planning as the engineering team evolves to meet future business requirements.
  • Primary Duties:
  • Team management
  • Plans and schedules GxP and Non-GxP planned maintenance and corrective works.
  • Raise requisitions via the approved CMMS system for parts and services including those performed by external third parties.
  • Conducts EHS investigations and acts as a Pfizer Responsible Person.
  • Provide maintenance support to ensure that pharmaceutical equipment and supply services operate consistently and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors and reviews engineering work orders ensuring facility keeps compliant.
  • Identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Teamwork/Collaboration
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to represent department on crossdepartment activities. Ability to lead others through change, acts as a change sponsor for new initiatives and changing work requirements. Ability to make decisions, takes action, and directs others in ambiguous situations.
  • Acts as a catalyst for an engaged forwardlooking workforce.
  • Takes responsibility for coordinating the work of 3rd parties.
  • Drafts documentation to support engineering activities i.e. RAMS/Job Plans
  • Manages facility downtime to a minimum and coordinates plant shutdowns.
  • Team Leader
  • Manages the teams work schedule, balancing the engineering compliance needs, together with the requirements of production and labbased departments. Demonstrates maturity and a positive attitude in assisting and training newer members of the team (including apprentices), offering advice, coaching, and mentoring. Provides feedback to team members on performance and progression, including feedback to support performance assessments.
  • Planning /Scheduling Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate weekly Engineering planning meetings with customer groups. Liaises with manufacturing and laboratory partners and crossdepartment teams for Engineering Shutdowns.
  • Plans, schedules and reviews the workload to the Engineering Team following Work Management and Reliability Programme Processes.
  • Raise requisitions in CMMS and SAP software
  • Maintenance & Support
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns, provide first line diagnostic and arrange for scheduling, components and (if necessary) resource for repair.
  • Provide technical and commissioning support to the ELS maintenance team and allocated engineering projects
  • Provide guidance and technical support to the maintenance team to enable the specification and selection of MRO parts
  • Support the delivery of equipment and installation testing in accordance with scheduled, documented tasks and electrical standards
  • Skills Required:
  • Experience of leading teams
  • Experience of working within Pharmaceutical Environment and knowledge of GxP in Engineering Applications and Principals
  • Has prior experience of planning, coordinating and reviewing plant shutdowns.
  • Drives own Personal Development, creating SMART Goals and in touch with new emerging technologies and how they can be incorporated into Pfizer Engineering System and Plant Maintenance.
  • Evidence of good time management skills with the ability to effectively plan, prioritise and organise own work in response to business need.
  • Communicates effectively to line managers, the wider customer team and can present data at departmental meetings.
  • Experience of managing multiple priorities, making difficult priority calls and getting buy in from teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and Electronic Asset Management System (EAMs) is required.
  • Leads others with a positive, "cando" attitude, acting as the catalyst for an engaged, forwardlooking workforce with strong interpersonal communication skills.
