About the role
We are looking for a Volunteer Woodwork Supervisor to support our Community Service in Leek, Staffordshire.

You will be based at John Hall Wellness Garden and, ideally, you will be able to commit 2-6 hours per week to volunteering.

You will receive training and regular supervision to ensure you feel confident in your role. You can read more about the benefits of volunteering on the full advert on our website.


About the service
Our service is open Monday

  • Friday 9am4pm, and Saturdays 9am3pm. The Wellness Garden is a pilot project which opened in April 2022 and is being supported by Rethink Mental Illness. Our vision is to become selffunding through support from our local community, and to independently serve the people of Leek and surrounding areas.


Our Garden is a beautiful Victorian walled garden, and we are in the initial stages of developing the grounds, Café, Workspace and various wellbeing activities.

We welcome groups into the garden and individuals can also register to become Friends of the Garden.


What you will be doing as a Volunteer Woodwork Supervisor:

  • Support individuals to develop their confidence in woodworking
  • Oversee woodwork sessions with small groups of individuals (no more than 3 at a time) for example making items to sell at the garden such as bird boxes, feeders, animal houses and planters.
  • Oversee the safe use of equipment and that health and safety is being followed.

We are looking for an individual who is friendly, reliable, and approachable, who has woodwork experience and is happy to share this knowledge and support individuals to safely use and maintain our woodworking equipment.
