Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Palliative Care Core Training level 1-2 post. The post is available from February 2023 for a 6 or 12 month period. The post is Monday to Friday with no out of hours work/on-call commitments.

The Hospital team provides an advisory service to inpatients across UCLH hospitals.

There is a separate team, the Transforming End of Life Care Team, whose role it is to educate and upskill generalists and assist them in caring for end of life patients.

There is also a separate Enhanced Supportive Care (ESC) Team which provides early palliative care to cancer patients in the outpatient setting for certain tumour groups.

The Hospital team sees approximately 1800 patients per year and about 70% of the work is within oncology and haemato-oncology.

We also cover the teenage cancer unit, so we see patients from age 12 years old and upwards as well as seeing patients in all specialties including medicine for the elderly and neurology and neurosurgery.


The postholder will work closely with clinical nurse specialists, registrars and consultants to provide excellent holistic advice including symptom management and psychological support to patients and families.

There is twice weekly teaching sessions as well as regular teaching ward rounds.

The post holder will have the same education and training opportunities provided to trainees.

Post holders will form part of an existing, supportive multi-disciplinary team in our renowned palliative care services.
