The Royal Navy's Merchant Navy Liaison voyage provides Royal Navy Young Officers, Senior Ratings and Engineering Technicians an opportunity to experience Merchant Navy operations to develop their career skills for enhanced capability and long term benefits.


Based in the Unit Personnel Office HMS Collingwood, this role provides a flexible service to meet the contracted administration requirements for achieving the liaison voyages.

The position is allied to a Travel Services Section and there is the potential to rotate through various elements of professional responsibilities when required to meet the needs of the business.

Training can be provided, where appropriate.


Responsibilities

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a dedicated day-to-day focal point for the administration of the Royal Navy's Merchant Navy Liaison Voyage (MNLV) scheme.
  • Administer RN personnel engaged in MNLV activity with selected major Merchant Navy companies, including Joining Instructions and associated documentation.
  • Liaise with RN Career Managers and Merchant Navy companies on windows of availability and details of RN personnel.
  • Liaise with the Masters of selected MN commercial companies and advise worldwide local shipping agents on the reception, accommodation and transport of RN personnel to MN vessels.
  • Administer the national and international movements of MN deployed RN personnel.
  • Administer and facilitate all MNLV travel requirements.
  • Collate and maintain budgetary related information including invoices and receipts.
  • Provide narratives and reports for MNLV business.
  • Comply with the General Data Protection Regulations.
  • Contribute to a safe working culture adhering to the Health and Safety procedures, processes and the law at all times.
  • Carry out any other tasks as determined by the Interserve Line Manager, including shadow training and support/cover for other Interserve staff in the contracted region when required.

Additional Information

  • Security clearance and DBS Standard will be a requirement.
  • The Contract operates a 37.5 hour working week between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Mon to Fri only.
  • Required to wear approved company work wear.
