Introduction:


Our client are a Defence and Manufacturing Company who are looking for a Senior Buyer to manage to work on the indirect commodity.

You will support the development of sourcing strategies, as well as being hands on with purchasing/buying.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Buyer looking to really get involved with business decision and process improvements

Working Pattern: 2 days min per week on site.

Key responsibilities:


  • Responsible for purchasing adhesives, gaskets + seals, labelling, packaging, power supplies and consumables.
  • Negotiating deals with suppliers, researching possible item selections and taking inventory of current products.
  • Promoting relationship management strategies, resolving risk and challenges within the supply chain.
  • Support commodity strategies with Commodity Manager.
  • Engage with Stakeholder and Functional leads in relation to all commodity requirements.
  • Participate and/or lead in supplier assessments and supplier development activity.
  • PO placement (SAP) and overall PO management (purchase to pay) in accordance with Export/Import/ITAR regulations.

Skills & experience:


  • Experience in a Buying or Procurement role.
  • Degree or CIPS Qualified or happy to work towards.
  • Experience or knowledge of ERP, MRP, MPS, SAP and purchase order placement / material receipt, invoicing processes.
  • Proven demonstrated strategic experience would be beneficial.
  • Be ambitious and want to genuinely impact the direction of the organisation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications to all levels in the organisation.
  • Good negotiation skills.
