Levington ward are recruiting for a new ward clerk who will be able to work autonomously, be able to prioritise their workload, and work well within our team.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, both face-to-face and over the phone. You will be working across Levington ward and MSKAU over 5 days Monday-Friday.


Ward clerks are the first point of contact for visitors and patients to the ward, so we need someone who will ensure that the Trust's 'OAK' Values are used at all times to ensure the best patient experience.

Levington Ward provides specialised nursing care to patients undergoing elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery. The unit utilises a well-established, evidenced based Enhanced Recovery Programme to maximise and optimise care to our patients.


We are an extremely motivated and passionate team determined to deliver excellent and high standards of holistic nursing care in a pleasant environment with friendly and supportive staff.


Your duties will include admission and discharge of patients on Lorenzo and Evolve computer systems, booking of appointments and filing of notes, answering phones and liaising with multidisciplinary teams/departments across the trust.


You should be able to work autonomously, be able to prioritise your workload and to work well within a team.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, both face-to-face and over the phone.

It would be beneficial to have NHS experience and possess excellent IT and clerical skills.

You will be dealing with the staff and general public so it is paramount that you have good people skills.

Working hours will be varied, so you must be flexible.

Maintaining ward diary information.

Arrange patient appointments.

Check computer details each morning and expected dates of discharge, updating as required.

Maintain safe and tidy working environment, update ward notice boards and report maintenance problems to estates.

Maintain confidentiality at all times relating to patient care within the ward area.

Assist the Ward Sister in undertaking clerical duties/administration duties.

To welcome patients and visitors to the ward in an appropriate manner, showing them to the bed on request.
