Working in the School Library Service, you will help schools in Hampshire develop their libraries to support the whole school Curriculum, meet the learning needs of individual children and develop reading for pleasure across the school.

  • Working in conjunction with a Lead Adviser, you will offer professional support and advice, training and resources to around 100 local primary, special and secondary schools across a geographical area.
  • Providing an efficient and customerfocussed service, you need to understand the role of the School Library Service and of a school library, and their roles in a changing educational world. You must have knowledge of contemporary children's authors and have library experience or a library qualification.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, business sense and experience of IT are required. You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire [and Dorset or other local authority]. It is essential that you have a current drivers' licence and have access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis. You will also be required to drive a Council vehicle on occasion.
