The role
We are looking to appoint an adjudicator to make regulatory decisions for us on a broad range of work.

You must be either:

a solicitor, barrister, chartered legal executive or have the equivalent legal professional status, with an entitlement to practise in England and Wales.

You will also have significant experience in an environment where decision-making is required.

This role needs someone who has deep skills, experience and judgement to reach reasoned and accurate decisions quickly. Our decisions require a detailed analysis of complex, technical, and often large amounts of information and evidence. You must demonstrate that you have sound and objective judgment and strong analytical skills.

You will be required to
make regulatory decisions using a range of powers contained in legislation, the SRA standards and regulations and guidance.

This is intended to ensure decisions are robust, achieve fairness and enhance the objectivity and balance of decision-making within the SRA.

Additionally, you will identify ways to improve the quality of decision making, deliver internal training and input into projects as required.

What we are looking for
- solicitor, legal executive, barrister or equivalent legal qualification with an entitlement to practise in England and Wales.
- decision making: ability to conduct effective evidence-based decision making, making sound and independent judgments through weighing facts and evidence, analysing and critically evaluating large volumes of complex information.
- interpersonal skills: able to gain the respect of others, build and maintain relationships. Confident to challenge opinions, work collaboratively and influence others to reach sound decisions.
- public protection and wider values: a commitment to protecting the public, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion. Accountable for the decisions you make.
- written and oral communication skills: able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of individuals, varying the approach as necessary.
- writing decisions: the ability to draft clear, logical, and well-reasoned decisions which accurately and concisely document, analyse and summarise the evidence and issues.
- time and organisational management: organise and plan your workload. Take proactive steps to ensure written decisions are finalised at the earliest opportunity and no later than stipulated deadlines. Work on your own initiative and keep people updated.
