Priory Hospital Bristol is an elegant 18th century country residence set in beautiful parkland close to the centre of Bristol, less than 5 minutes away from the M32 leading directly onto the M4/M5 motorway.

Bristol is part of the Healthcare Division of Priory Group it has 77 beds over seven wards varying from Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Adult Psychiatric Intensive Care, Acquired Brain Injury, Huntingdon's and Dementia, private addiction and general psychiatry, along with a growing outpatient therapy service.


The post holder is responsible for enabling assurance and support for clinical quality and improvement, management, as well as providing guidance, coaching and auditing to achieve desired results.


A responsive, flexible and proactive approach is required, whilst supporting the senior management team to develop and improve the quality of clinical practice and services provided.


Responsibilities:


  • The ADoCS play a key part in developing and delivering the hospital Quality improvement plan, providing operational and clinical leadership.
  • Ensures delivery of the highest level of clinical and therapeutic care together with ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and current legislation, meeting quality standards and delivering against quality performance indicators.
  • Provides leadership, organisation and coordination to ensure effective clinical governance.
  • Facilitating and supporting the implementation and maintenance of the overall site Governance. Working with wards, departments to facilitate the delivery of the Governance agenda and embed learning, evidence based practice and improvement in patient care.
  • Providing professional advice on quality governance issues to all staff at site, promoting high standards of care and development of clinical practice.
  • Ensuring that all auditing and governance requirements are met at site including participation and compliance with the Priory Audit Calendar and audit activity associated with Contractual requirements eg CQUIN This may also include audit practice in response to learning from incidents and other experience across the site, region, division and group
  • Developing and contributing to the Governance Reports and relevant regular reports
  • Attending, contributing, sharing outcomes and learnings from a number of forums including Clinical Governance, Health and Safety, Risk and Reducing Restrictive Practice.
  • Have oversight of Hospital restrictive practices and implementing, auditing and review of strategies to reduce them.
  • Facilitating compliance with the company incident and serious incident policy and support staff in the investigation of serious incidents in line with company policy. This includes support with 24/72hr notifications and TIRs.
  • Leading investigations and reviews, including serious incidents, thematic reviews, safeguarding whistle blowing complaints, providing reports within the given timescales and in accordance with policies
  • Supporting patient and staff safety culture and promoting learning from incidents and complaints by promoting sharing of learnings across site and, where appropriate, across the division.
  • Be the lead for patient and carer experience across the site, ensuring a clear and responsive culture and practices are in place and embedded by all.
  • Supporting wards and site to prepare for Internal and external Regulatory and commissioner inspections and Internal Benchmarking and Health and Safety inspections.
  • Working with wards on their service improvement plans and working on any Site Improvement Plan, agreeing objectives with SMART measures and ensuring regular review and audit.
  • Deliver coaching and training as necessary in relation to developing and improving quality and practice to clinical staff.
  • Ensure that work is collaborative and in accordance with company and divisional values and behaviours at all times.
  • Develop, manage and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the regional Quality Improvement Lead in ensuring site improvement is evident and requesting support when needed.
  • As part of the Senior Management team will carry out oncall duties as directed by the Hospital Director.
  • Contributes to the development of Priory policies, procedures, processes and initiatives
  • Manage the site quality and compliance administrator


  • Medical Device Management

  • Responsible for organising the yearly servicing of all medical equipment on site.
  • Medication/Device Alerts responsible for disseminating and logging any Government issued medication/device alerts to the wards.
  • Work with wards on their service improvement plans agreeing objectives with SMART measures and ensuring regular review and audit.
  • Facilitating training where a need has been identified in relation to developing and improving quality and practice.
