We are excited to be able to offer this position to join our acute paediatric unit here at Bolton as practice educator.

We are seeking a knowledgeable, skilled and dynamic paediatric nurse with the relevant skills and experience to take up the role based on our acute paediatric in patient unit.

The post holder will be a Registered nurseand carry continuing responsibility for leading staff, specialising in practice based education. They will be responsible for the delivery of high standards of nursing and clinical care to patients. They will also be responsible for the co-ordination of Staff Development, Educational and Training needs within paediatrics.


They will advise and support staff, demonstrate a high level of competence in the specialty, and be expected to broaden their remit, in line with current evidence base, knowledge and training.

They will make decisions based upon knowledge and experience in respect of patient care, and be accountable for those decisions.

They will ensure all staff managed, receive adequate supervision and training to enable them to become competent within the clinical area.


Liaise with Ward Managers, Matrons, Practice Base Educators and Professional Development Nurses and Clinical Skills Trainers to ensure the clinical education, development needs and mandatory training needs of the nursing workforce are identified and addressed utilising well developed communication skills, assessment skills, clinical experience and knowledge.

Maintain a high Education Team profile

Under the leadership of the Ward Management team, plan, organise, contribute to and evaluate in-house development programmes

Promote development/teaching programmes Trust wide


Facilitate Band 5&6 Development Programmes, deliver teaching and ensure programmes meet the identified development needs of Band 5&6 nurses by liaising with Senior Nurses and other appropriate staff in clinical areas.

Provide clinical support, one to one teaching and guidance with the development of objectives for individuals (qualified nurses), who have identified that they require additional support

On occasion, as activity demands, be able to care for a cohort of patients to support clinical activity

E5 is a 28 bedded paediatric unit with an additional 3 HDU beds, 7 day case beds and a 9 bedded short stay assessment unit (F5).

The post holder will have the relevant experience and qualifications to be able to support staff development across the units and to promote the profile of paediatric education and training within the Trust.


This will involve:
