Full Time 37 Hours per week - Fixed Term for 30 months

This role will include:


  • 1 day a week of protected study time for the duration of the contract to support your learning and development and preparation for registration.
  • Opportunity to undertake placements and projects to gain a broad understanding across all domains of Public Health.


During the 2.5-year contract secondment opportunities will be provided into neighbouring Local Authorities and other organisations in the Public Health system to ensure a breadth of experience is gained to support registration on the Practitioner Scheme.


Your role will be to work in partnership and develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including other local authority services areas, the NHS and the voluntary and community sector, Health Education England Thames Valley and other relevant stakeholders to drive health improvement by preventing and reducing inequalities in health.


What we're looking for:


  • Educated to degree or post graduate level in a public health or a related discipline.
  • Prepared to undertake a structured educational development programme alongside delivery of public health programmes and projects.
  • Able to undertake placements and projects to gain a broad understanding across the three domains of public health.
  • Committed to complete all elements of the training programme, including undertaking projects, placements, full attendance at structured educational programme and completion of a portfolio towards professional practitioner registration with UKPHR.
  • Carrying lived experience of health inequalities or have strong links with communities experiencing health inequalities across the local geographic area.
  • An excellent communicator with the skills to:
  • gather and analyse information
- identify and prioritise risks
- identify and prioritise safeguarding issues
- demonstrate excellent organisational skills and flexibility
- demonstrate excellent IT and typing skills
- demonstrate excellent team work skills.


About you


You will be educated to degree or post graduate level in a public health or related discipline and be prepared to undertake a structured educational development programme alongside delivery of public health programmes and projects.


Drawing on anchor institute principles and as a local, large employer we are keen to recruit people from our local communities.

Therefore you will be someone who either has a working knowledge of the local geographic area or lives within the local geographic area.

We welcome applicants who have experience or links with communities experiencing health inequalities across the local geographic area.


You will have the ability to undertake placements and projects to gain a broad understanding across the three domains of public health and be able to commit to completing all elements of the training programme, including undertaking projects, placements, full attendance at structured educational programme and completion of a portfolio towards professional practitioner registration with UKPHR through the 2.5 years contract.
