The church and hall facilities


In this role you will have overall responsibility for the safe and proper running of the church buildings and facilities, working in partnership with Church Council officials and representatives.


This includes:

  • Managing bookings for our facilities, implementing and using a new online booking system
  • Managing booking records, payments, policies, and procedures
  • Promoting the hall via Facebook, our website, and word of mouth
  • Responding to incoming enquiries in a timely way
  • Responding to hall user enquiries and issues.
  • Produce a regular newsletter for hall users.
  • Managing the cleaner for the site and booking and liaising with external contractors
  • Overseeing stock levels of cleaning supplies and other important items
  • Maintaining records for Health and Safety purposes, such as electrical and gas safety checks
  • Manage the distribution of keys to areas of the site.
  • Monitoring the site and seeing it is well maintained in liaison with the building and grounds group.

Church life

  • Liaising with the Vicar on upcoming baptisms, funerals and weddings
  • Preparing worship materials such as printing booklets and ordering candles.
  • Coordinating the review of key policies, such as Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Data Protection
  • Supporting the discharge of safeguarding duties such as keeping records for DBS or completion of DBS checks and training/ hosting requests from the safeguarding lead.

Community engagement

  • Playing a key role in the development of outreach activities for St John's, spotting partnership, marketing and funding opportunities.

About you


You will be:

  • Enthusiastic about building a community and keen to play a role in developing local facilities that make a difference to people's lives
  • Willing to take the initiative and work on your own sometimes, to get the job done without close supervision
  • Keen to learn new things, such as new ways of reaching people and promoting the hall and church activities
  • Flexible and able to prioritise, depending on what's happening
  • Able to solve problems and work under pressure.

Skill or experience

  • Friendly, competent customer service skills
  • A good level of English and Maths
  • Experience with building management or management of cleaner
  • Experience of record keeping within GDPR rules and guidelines
  • Experience of working within policies and procedures and working with others to update and amend policies.
  • Able to update Facebook or other social media

Key information
The post provides annual leave as well as public holidays.


To be confirmed in post the postholder will have an exemplary record of attendance and performance at the 3 and 6 months point.
