About the role

York College Invigilators are responsible for the conducting of external and internal examinations for students, ensuring that all JCQ/Awarding Organisation regulatory requirements for the conduct of examinations are strictly adhered to, these tasks are supported by the Exams team.


Invigilators will be required to:


  • Be fully aware of the regulations according to "The Instructions for Conducting Examinations".
  • Complete the Attendance Register during the examination and inform the Exams Office of any absentees.
  • Know the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency such as an emergency evacuation.
  • Collect all unused stationery in the Examination room and return it to the Exams Office.
  • Ensure that the room is left in a tidy condition.
  • Perform all of the above duties in accordance with College policies, procedures and regulations on Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, Quality Assurance, financial matters and Data Protection Act.
  • Collate and pack all exams scripts in preparation for the dispatch to the relevant awarding body.
  • Complete any training required by the college.
