Are you already a successful National Key Account Manager, Strategic Account Director, Major Account Manager or holding similar key account responsibility with 5+ years of proven commercial experience in the fibre optics or telecoms industries (mobile/fixedline/satellite)?

Do you have a blend of strong technical knowledge in Fibre Optics (FTTH) with the proven commercial track record of increasing revenues and developing strong relationships with multi million-pound key accounts?

UK Strategic Account Director - Fibreoptic Solutions role could be perfect for you


In the role of UK Strategic Account Director - Fibreoptic Solutions you will be responsible for:

  • Develops and executes account plans that provide your high value key accounts with a fully integrated set of product, process, service, and technical solutions which draw on our client's total value proposition to meet specific business needs
  • Maintains frequent contact with customers and other complementary organisations (channels, contractors, oem's, design companies, trade associations) to identify, build and strengthen relationships
  • Continually assess effectiveness in meeting the customer's needs, and ultimately maximize account penetration and customer retention
  • Engaging multiple diverse stakeholders in the account, developing deep longterm trust filled relationships, solution selling to multiple decision makers
  • Maintains frequent contact with market trade associations to be aware of market developments (eg FTTH Council, SCTE, INCA, Connected Britain)
  • Serves as an advocate for both your employer and the customer by creating value for both parties and balancing the needs and constraints of both parties
  • Stays informed of customer requirements and key buying factors and uses this knowledge to pursue profitable selling opportunities for current or next generation products and to modify account plans as needed
  • Collaborates with Pricing, Product Line Management, and other functions to negotiate favourable agreements with customers
  • Ownership of Tenders and RFP responses
  • Proactively clarifies and executes contract terms and aligns customers' expectations with the division's ability to deliver
  • Coordinates crossfunctional account services (with Applications Engineering, Customer Service, Systems Engineering, Technology) to lead the account and serve the customer with one, unified voice and to provide seamless support
  • Collects market, customer, and competitor intelligence and insights and shares this knowledge with others, as appropriate, to inform sales, marketing, and technical strategies as well as the demand forecast and sales planning processes
  • Collects sales information within the account to inform shortterm and longterm sales forecasting (i.e., sales budget and 5year plan) at the account and division level and inform inventory management efforts
  • Customizes presentation / marketing collateral to fit the customer's technical needs.
  • Assesses the overall cost of sales to ensure that resources are optimally allocated to align with the opportunities that are available
  • Aligns the technical and sales capabilities of my client's vast resources with the customer's needs and with consideration of individual interests, capabilities, and development needs

To be successful in the role of UK Strategic Account Director - Fibreoptic Solutions you will have the following experience, knowledge, and skill set:

  • Before making this exciting long-term career move you will already be a National Key Account Manager, Strategic Account Director, Major Account Manager or equivalent with 5+ years of proven commercial experience in the fibre optics or telecoms industries(mobile/fixed line/satellite)
  • You could also be a commercially minded Applications Engineer/Pre Sales Engineer with very strong technical knowledge in the fibre optics industry with a genuine hunger to transition into a sales role
  • Track record of winning and closing sales, prior sales experience to UK or international telecommunication service providers
  • Understanding of the telecommunication network market, architectures, and trends
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills ability to work in team structure and to influence
  • Resilience and determination, accustomed to long term sales cycles
  • Drive for results with entrepreneurial hunting attitude
  • Full UK driving licence and valid passport for international travel when required

Salary & Benefits:


  • Base salary circa: £70,000 £85,000 DOE
  • Uncapped 30% OTE with lucrative accelerators
