The University of Hull ICT Department is seeking to appoint a Cyber Security Specialist.

This role will be a senior and technical lead for information security activities and will report to the Associate Director, Cyber Security.

They will be responsible for the development and implementation of security policy and controls within the ICT Department and the wider University.

They will design and implement best practice processes and procedures to secure information assets and provide a technical lead relating to security needs.

They will work with departmental specialists, external auditors, security organisations, information governance and stakeholders across the institution to ensure proportionate, customer-centric, outcomes.

This is an exciting time to join the ICT Department as the University has several major investment initiatives underway across its digital estate.

The increased dependence on IT systems following the pandemic has seen the importance and profile of cyber-security being recognised institutionally and nationally at the highest levels.

As a result, the ICT Department is looking to strengthen the Security and Architecture team and this specialist appointment will be supplemented by further appointments to provide additional capabilities and capacity.

Increased levels of human resourcing will also be backed by further investment in new security systems, controls, processes and governance structures to ensure the University maintains its security posture and stays cyber-safe.

We are seeking to appoint a values-driven specialist who has practical experience of the cyber-security and architecture landscape currently facing Higher Education.

The appointee will be able to demonstrate skill in a broad range of information security activities and technical knowledge of systems and networking.

They will be able to work across a variety of areas to deliver collegiate outcomes.

The University has an 'Agile' working policy so, whilst the post holder will be required to attend the University of Hull campus for defined activities, there will also be opportunities available for them to flex both their working days and the location where that work is undertaken with the agreement of their line manager.
