The Department of dermatology at Lewisham Hospital is seeking a consultant in Dermatology (8 PAs).

We are looking for a dynamic applicant who is committed to excellence in patient care and who is forward-looking as we explore innovative ways of delivering our services.


The post holder will run a range of clinics based at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) with an opportunity to work with the community team.

Clinics will include general adult and paediatric dermatology clinics, skin cancer clinics as well subspecialty clinics to be determined by service needs and the post-holder's expertise.

The post also includes inpatient review of acute dermatology referrals.


The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust was created in 2013 from a merger of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with University Hospital Lewisham, as part of a reconfiguration of services in South East London.

The hospitals cover the London Boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and parts of Bexley, with a combined population of greater than 530,000 people.

The Trust is located in a pleasant part of South East London, with easy access to Central London and the Kent countryside.

There is a wide range of residential areas with excellent local amenities and schools.

The department at UHL is a dedicated self-contained dermatology unit which is modern and well equipped. There are two outpatient theatre suites as well as a phototherapy unit.

There is a dedicated dermatology day care unit where the dermatology nurses treat adults and children with chronic skin diseases.

The department is supported by two facial plastic/ENT surgeons who do a weekly joint Dermatology /Facial Plastics/ ENT clinic and operate on skin cancer patients in the dermatology unit.

In addition, the Department has a Plastic Surgeon and a General Surgeon who perform weekly lists on Dermatology patients within the Unit.

There is a dedicated weekly paediatric dermatology clinic and Paediatric Day-care Clinic as well as Teledermatology Clinics.

The job plan is anticipated to contain 8 Programmed Activities per week, as described in the attached job description. This job description is pending RCP approval.


You will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including your personal and professional objectives with your Clinical Director within three months of your start date.

The job plan will be negotiated between the consultant and his/her clinical director at least annually.
