Description
We are seeking an assistant psychologist with a keen interest in working in adultlearningdisabilityservices.


You will demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of the context of services for individuals with learning disabilitiesand the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.


You will undertake work directly with service users with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour, their carers, family members and other agencies and indirectly as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The person appointed will have a Psychology Degree (first class) or a Masters Degree in Psychology.

Knowledge of research methodology, computer literacy, experience of data analysis, and a high level of written communication skills are required.


The service good links with the North London Doctoral Training courses in Clinical Psychology, to which it regularly provides clinical placements to doctoral trainees.

  • To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a service user's problems, under the supervision of a qualified practitioner psychologist, in both community and inpatient/residential settings.
  • To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups as appropriate.
  • To work with other staff in assessing service user's needs and review their care in preparation for multidisciplinary reviews.
  • To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all service users of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
  • To attend and contribute to appropriate multidisciplinary meetings.
