Job Title:
Semi Senior/Senior Accountant.


We are looking to recruit a Semi-Senior/Senior Accountant who is qualified and/or is studying towards the ACCA qualification and has had practical experience within practice.

The role will be a combination of accounts preparation and tax returns.

You will be mainly responsible for preparation of clients accounts ranging from sole traders, partnerships and limited companies as well as completion of the tax returns.


Key responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping from client records to produce VAT Returns
  • Monthly Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns to be completed and filed
  • Preparation of monthly Management Accounts using accounting software (training to be provided where necessary)
  • Preparation of annual accounts and working papers to an excellent standard, for approval by the manager/partner overseeing the assignment
  • Preparation of corporation tax computations and tax returns for Limited Companies
  • Preparation of business tax computations for sole traders and partnerships
  • Completion of self assessment returns, income & expenditure and rental accounts work for individuals and partnerships
  • Competent on Xero, Sage, TASBooks and/or Taxcalc (training to be provided where necessary)
  • Manage junior staff and organise workload
  • Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
  • To promptly report to manager any concerns which may affect the firm's client relationship e.g. money laundering, unethical business practice, complaints
  • To respect client confidentiality and report any issues which may affect client relationships to the manager/partner overseeing assignment
  • Ad hoc administrative duties such as answering the phone and general office duties when required

a)Qualities:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage workload and prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Hardworking individual who is able to work on own initiative but also under instruction
  • Have a professional manner and able to work well with others

b)Competency/Technical skills needed:


  • Qualified or studying towards the ACCA qualification who is currently part qualified and has had at least 2/3 years experience in practice
  • Excellent understanding of bookkeeping and reconciliation abilities


  • Excellent IT skills

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Xero, Sage, TASBooks and Taxcalc would be preferable but not essential.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of accountancy standards and taxation
  • Payroll experience is preferred but not mandatory

c)Qualifications required

  • Qualified or currently studying towards the ACCA qualification/qualified by experience
  • 6 GCSE's at C or above including English and Maths
