Porter Security Guard - Bank:

SAH Band 2, £21,986 to £23,969 pro rata per annum

Enhancements payable

Anticipated hours 9.00 pm to 7.00 am

Bank/Sessional hours over 7 days when required


Who are we?:


St Andrew's Hospice is a registered charity providing specialist palliative care for patients with life-limiting conditions which require complex symptom management, and/or end-of-life care.

It is Lanarkshire's specialist hospice and provides multidisciplinary support for patients, their families and carers.

The service is provided completely free of charge for the adult population of North and South Lanarkshire and is open to all without distinction of race, gender or creed.

What is the role?:


You will work under the direction of the Facilities Manager ensuring the safety and security of all patients and hospice staff.

Your role will involve supporting patients to move throughout the hospice as required, to provide a night security service overseeing the safety of the grounds and also being available to support the ward staff with any portering requirements.

You will patrol the hospice site to ensure patients and staff are safe secure. If required, you will support the staff to monitor patients. Any other adhoc maintenance duties.


What we expect of you?:


  • An awareness of moving & handling and Health & Safety
  • Good communication skills to relate to patients
  • Be able to respond to a range of emergency, fire and intruder activations
  • An awareness of the work undertaken in a hospice environment, discretion and a professional approach are required for the role.
  • Undertake Mortuary duties adhering to strict guidelines and maintaining dignity and respect for the deceased at all times.
  • IT literate
