Description

You could be a key part of our multi-disciplinary healthcare team, providing individualised care for patients on a busy day case oncology and haematology unit.

You would be expected to have excellent communication skills, be a team player and provide high standards of care to patients under the supervision of a qualified nurse/practitioner.

Your role would include taking observations, phlebotomy and cannulation skills, supporting clinicians in outpatient clinics and caring for patients with a cancer diagnosis.

Basic IT skills are preferable.

Assist individual patients with elements of basic nursing care and the implementation of programmes of care under the direction of a registered nurse

Perform venepuncture and cannulation for patients in day case and outpatient, including for patients prior to starting chemotherapy.


Support clinicians in outpatient clinics, ensuring documentation is completed and appropriate clinic preparation is undertaken to ensure safe running of the clinic.

Contribute to the ongoing support of patients and their relatives whilst receiving chemotherapy or whilst attending clinic appointments.

Contribute to the support of patients in transition from one care setting to another.

Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the delivery of a care service. See section regarding Respect for Patient Confidentiality below.


Assist and contribute to the movement and treatment of patients to achieve physical comfort and minimise the adverse effects of pressure according to the prescription of care.

Report areas of concern to qualified staff.


Assist individual patients with activities of daily living according to individual needs including personal hygiene, appearance, oral care, fluid and dietary intake.

Participate in clerical duties as required.
