Cardiff University is looking for change management professionals to support our investment in improving the experience of our students and staff via a strategic portfolio of change.

We have a wide variety of projects and programmes focussing on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, systems and technology, information and data security, job roles and organisational structures.


  • We are looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals to support change initiatives that support our Strategic and Organisational Change Programmes.
  • Joining a team of Business Change colleagues, you will be based in the Portfolio Services Division and will be a member of the Programme Management Office.
  • By carrying out this role you will be influencing and shaping how Cardiff University continues to deliver the best outcomes for its staff and students.
  • This post is full time and fixedterm for 3 years

Salary:

£36,333 - £43,155 per annum (Grade 6)

  • You will assist the Business Change Manager in identifying, planning, and delivering a set of interdependent activities designed to bring about a sustainable business change that will contribute to the successful delivery of outcomes and objectives defined in the business case for a specified university wide programme or business initiative.
  • This specific appointment has arisen to provide support to the Education and Student Experience Portfolio, working with the project team, specifically communications and engagements leads.
  • You will be expected to assist the Business Change Manager in ensuring the readiness of stakeholders and business activities to integrate new processes into the businessasusual environment.
  • In order to achieve this, you will be expected to assist the Business Change Manager to:
  • Support project teams in ensuring that change management activities are integrated into their project plans
  • Support initiatives to embed the change into businessasusual environments, ensuring alignment with the intended outcomes and benefits of the change.
  • Support the realisation of the vision for the change, leading stakeholders across the University through the interpretation of, and planning for, the change in their own context.
  • Support the delivery of a change communication and engagement strategy aligned to the project plan and timeline, ensuring effective dissemination, cascade, and opportunity to positively influence decisions through established and initiated networks within the University and externally, aligned to established approaches and in partnership with corporate communications resources where required.

The job requires the role holder to:

  • Support the facilitation of positive and sustainable change by forming and leading teams comprising stakeholders (departments and schools) and suppliers (internal and external to the University)
  • Support the development and implementation of a change communication and engagement strategy aligned to the project plan, identifying effective means of dissemination and opportunities to positively influence decisions through established and initiated networks within the college and externally.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the college.
  • Support the communication of a clear vision of the project objectives and business change initiatives, establishing communication channels that foster a sense of unity and common purpose towards achieving buyin and participation.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

Expertise/Competence/Skills

  • Degree level education or qualified by experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to communicate at all levels, with both technical and nontechnical audiences, translating complex concepts into understandable, relevant, appropriate and compelling messages through the effective use of presentation and training tools and techniques.

Experience

  • Experience of supporting the creation of project plans, including prioritisation and scheduling of conflicting tasks and effective use of available resources and budgets.
