We have an exciting opportunity for a clinical psychologist to join our Occupational Health team as part of our new staff psychology support service for the Trust.


The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Lead Psychologist as we set up the new service and engage with key stakeholders across the Trust to provide regular psychological support as required as well as providing a direct, face-to-face sessions for staff who are referred into the service.


The post-holder will be responsible for undertaking assessment and treatment work with staff members as part of the wider Occupational Health and staff Health and Wellbeing teams.

To undertake highly specialist psychological assessment of individuals and teams referred to the staff psychological support service (SPSS)


Communicate a clinical opinion in order to inform and/or develop a case formulation based on analysis and interpretation of knowledge from a variety of sources including clinical interview, direct observation, questionnaire measures, up-to-date literature review, psychological assessment, psychometric assessment and with regard to other medical investigations if relevant.


To develop specialised plans for formal psychological intervention, based on the individual / team assessment and formulation, and making use of an informed judgment of evidence of treatment efficacy and psychological principles.


To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, teams and groups, within and across staffing teams, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.


To provide expertise and specialist psychological advice and consultation to other professionals in relation to assessment, diagnosis, treatment and care (for example advising Occupational Health colleagues on psychological principles and research, or acting as consultant to allied health professional (AHP) colleagues in understanding and managing challenging behaviour).


The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust places the health and wellbeing of it over 5.500 staff as a key priority for the trust.


Significant investments have been made to support our staff health and wellbeing agenda including our newly opened Oasis staff health and wellbeing as well as establishing this new Staff Psychological Support Service (SPSS).

These new services complement the existing Occupational Health team which includes a staff health and wellbeing team.
