At MKUHFT we are passionate about safeguarding and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and proactive professional to join the Safeguarding team in the diverse role of Safeguarding Adult Lead.

This role is a key part of the senior corporate leadership team and is highly specialised.

The post holder will be expected to support teams with day-to-day complex safeguarding decision making including the provision of advice, supervision, professional development, and training.

This role is pivotal in providing assurance to and the Trust external partners of highly quality safeguarding practice within the Trust.


The Safeguarding Adults Lead will be responsible for overseeing safeguarding quality improvements, within the current legislative framework and anticipate new statutory responsibilities They will closely with the Head of Clinical Services and the Senior Corporate Nursing Leads and across the Integrated Care System to ensure support for all safeguarding activities.

Partnership working is integral to the role.

The post holder will be expected to represent the Trust at the Safeguarding committee ,local safeguarding partnership subgroups for adults, safeguarding adult reviews (SARs), and domestic homicide reviews (DHRs) and on Section 42 enquiries.

This highly specialised role will provide advice, guidance, supervision, and professional development in relation to safeguarding throughout the Trust. This role also provides professional leadership to support regulatory and best practice standards in relation to safeguarding. The Safeguarding Adults Lead will be responsible for overseeing safeguarding quality improvements, within the current legislative framework and anticipate
new statutory responsibilities.


  • Holds Trust wide responsibility for leading and co-ordinating effective arrangements for safeguarding adults.
Contributing to the development of strategic plans that place patient care at the heart of the service.

Act as an advocate for vulnerable adults, raising awareness of their needs and actively promoting the philosophy that the best interests of the individual are paramount.

Develop, facilitate, deliver, and evaluate training programmes for safeguarding and MCA/ DoLS and Prevent within the Trust and in partnership with other agencies.

Support and advise colleagues as part of own clinical role, whilst being clear about others' personal, clinical, and professional accountability

Ensure that all employees are aware of the organisation's safeguarding policy, which should be reviewed in line with national and local expectations and requirements.

Maintain clear, concise, and appropriate records in relation to safeguarding/ MCA/ DoLS work
