The role of the Strategy and Performance Transformation (SPT) team is to work with senior executives to identify, structure and solve their most critical strategic issues across the economic and transaction cycles.

Introduction and context

The Healthcare and Life Sciences Strategy team within SPT is looking to hire an exceptional Associate Director. You'll be a professional, talented individual with a passion for identifying and creating innovative solutions for clients.


Our Vision is to be the most relevant strategic advisors in Healthcare and Life Sciences, working with top management teams to shape thinking and solve the most critical strategic issues by bringing together the full breadth of the firm's capabilities.

Over the past year, we have been increasing our support to clients in the field of medical affairs.

Topics can range from medical strategy, planning and operating model change to product or TA specific including launch, brand strategy, life cycle management, evidence generation, stakeholder mapping, patient pathway development etc.


You will also receive a superior level of coaching and support to meet the needs of our global client base.

Role and responsibilities

An Associate Director leads the design of engagements and has responsibility for day to day delivery. You will work with your team to shape the approach, develop and present your recommendations.


You will play a leading role in business development, proactively managing on-sell and cross-sell opportunities and supporting the identification, pursuit and conversion of new business development opportunities.

Additionally you will; proactively develop thought leadership; design and lead practice development initiatives; actively develop your own knowledge and expertise in your chosen proposition(s); build and maintain a strong external and internal network; motivate, mentor and develop project team members and appraisees

Your experience

We are seeking an Associate Director with Medical Affairs strategy experience whether in consulting or in the industry (e.g. MSL). This ensures that you have the sector knowledge needed to make a real impact with our clients, and you can build the networks to make the role a success

You will have a proven track record in delivering complex projects and relevant experience in some or all of the following:
Creating strategies to achieve access & growth through consideration of both market factors, and customers (including patients and HCPs)

  • Medical Affairs Strategy & Planning as part of broader Commercial Strategy
  • Evidence Generation strategy
  • Key external expert engagement strategy (e.g. HCPs, payors, patient organisations)
  • Field medical strategy
  • Medical Affairs Functional Transformation (organisational & operational aspects e.g. outsourced models)
  • Medical due diligence on prospective biopharma assets, as well as Medical Function Integration/ Separation as a result of restructure or M&A

An academic background (e.g. MSc, PhD, MD, or MPharm) and 6-10 years medical affairs industry or consulting experience is desirable.

Although the pandemic continues to reshape our world, we anticipate that over the course of time we will return to visiting our clients offices and working away from home.

Therefore you should be comfortable being occasionally away from home for 2-4 days
