Real World Evidence Scientist - Immunology

Reports into Real-World Evidence (Northern European Hub)

The VEO (Value, Evidence, and Outcomes) affiliate scientist will contribute to the compendium of evidence to demonstrate the value of the company's products (across all business units) by ensuring the VEO/RWE customer needs are met in a timely and credible manner.


The VEO Affiliate scientist leads the local VEO/RWE strategy and is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate VEO solutions are executed within their hub.

The development of these strategies are conducted in close collaboration with the affiliate cross-functional brand teams and should be aligned with the global brand strategy.

This role will service the Northern European Hub (NE Hub) in Lilly, including the United Kingdom and the Nordics.


The VEO Affiliate Scientist provides scientific expertise and effective project oversight to ensure the successful fulfilment of the local VEO goals.

Also responsible for maintaining knowledge of local databases and will build strategic relationships with third parties while ensuring following all relevant internal processes.

Although the VEO affiliate scientist will have primarily scientific competency, you will show business acumen, external engagement, and leadership capabilities.


  • Customer & Environmental Understanding AND Best Practice (20%)_
  • Establishing and maintaining a broad network with multiple customers and partners within the pharmaceutical industry relevant to VEO/RWE
  • Evidence Strategy, Cross-Functional Leadership and Integration (35%)_
  • Partners with the right functions (e.g. global/local Pricing, Reimbursement & Access (PRA), local Health Outcomes/HTA group, global/International business unit (IBU), VEO, PRA, market research, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Global Product Safety, etc) to ensure local VEO strategies are aligned with local brand teams and global/regional strategy.
  • Ensures that local VEO needs for pre
- and post
- launch Lilly portfolio (post-launch needs will be prioritized, however, input will be given on pre-launch VEO as needed) are captured in affiliate VEO plans and shared VEO International and other relevant functions.

  • Links VEO/RWE scientific expertise with business unit knowledge to influence and effect crossfunctional initiatives within the Principles of Medical Research framework.
  • Study Development, Execution & Oversight, inc. Vendor Management (35%)_
  • The VEO solutions should be included in the Business Planning and the research should be conducted aligned with the Principles of Medical Research and stored appropriately.
  • Builds strategic engagements with third parties for access to external data source/analysis in compliance with Lilly procedures.
  • Leads dissemination of VEO/RWE information in appropriate scientific venues via development, preparation, and presentation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts and effectively communicates with internal partners.
  • Project Management (10%)_
  • Accountable for delivering the prioritized VEO research on time and on budget, ensuring study/ project budgets are realistic and maintain a proactive communication style with all key business partners.

Basic Requirements:

  • Ph.
D., M.D., or PharmD/Master's degree with relevant experience in an appropriate discipline

  • Significant previous training and experience in the areas of Epidemiology or Health Outcomes
  • Prior research experience within immunology (atopic dermatitis, alopecia areata, psoriasis, rheumatology, inflammatory bowel disease) is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a crossfunctional environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of local health care systems in the UK and Nordic countries
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally.
