Cognition Energy is an innovative and disruptive engineering start-up that uses science led development to deliver high performance battery products and services.
At Cognition we develop unique battery test equipment (CellPods) and carry out contract testing for external clients. Founded by 4 people, of which 3 are Imperial College academics, Cognition's long term goal is to help the world switch to a 100% renewable futureDue to maternity leave, we are now looking for an experienced office manager to cover this leave.
The role could be particularly well-suited to an experienced office manager looking to work 2-3 days per week with a small dynamic team.
Actual working hours can be flexible.The company offers a competitive salary, 25 days annual leave (pro-rated for actual hours worked) and a matched contribution pension scheme.
What you'll have:

- Good knowledge of Google GSuite/Microsoft Office and Xero or equivalent accounting system
Even better if you have:
- Experience in working within a finance team
- Experience working within HR
What you'll do:
- Have overall responsibility for ensuring the office and workshop facilities are fully serviced and run smoothly
- Process incoming company bills, including: Inputting bills into Xero Accounting system; Reconciliation of bills against bank statements
- VAT return to HRMC
- Processing any tax queries and import/export taxes.
- Sending out Purchase Orders to suppliers for equipment, and then tracking to ensure items arrive at Cognition within the agreed timeframe and to the agreed quality.
- Sending out Invoices to Cognition's customers, and ensuring these are paid within the company terms.
- Support development of company processes and documentation
- Manage the onboarding of new staff
- Schedule monthly payroll and pensions
- Schedule and arrange meetings for the CEO and other members of the team, including Board Meetings
- Support the preparation of presentations and other documents related to the company's activities
- Support and/or lead on ad hoc tasks as required

Location:
Cognitions office and labs are based in a beautiful countryside setting, with free parking, just outside Didcot, Oxfordshire. Local amenities include local shops, a pub and easy access to the A34.

- 15 hours a week, days and hours to be agreed
