Hours: 37.5 hrs per week

Job purpose:
To develop additional online trading platforms for St Michael's Hospice to maximise profits and meet or exceed targets.


Responsibility Areas

Service delivery

  • To ensure a high standard of customer service for online retail
  • Lead on the development of additional ecommerce platforms to ensure stock value is optimised and new markets are identified. Platforms could include Vinted/Depop,
Amazon and others as identified.

  • Select, research, photograph, and value all goods to showcase stock to its fullest potential
  • Describe and display products in an accurate and professional manner, in accordance with the Hospice brand guidelines
  • Monitor the pricing of goods sold online to ensure they reach their maximum potential
  • Ensure all orders are confirmed and customers communicated with effectively and in a timelymanner.
  • Ensure that all sold goods are packaged effectively to ensure minimum losses and breakages
  • Ensure that all sold goods are posted within set target time
  • Ensure KPIs set are met including stock level targets reached to ensure continuos flow of listings
  • To maintain high standards of feedback and top seller ratings on online selling platforms e.g. eBay, Vinted, Depop and Amazon

Communication and Teamworking

  • Support volunteers and staff to ensure stock is sorted and identified
  • Contribute to the development of online procedures and systems
  • Build ongoing relationship with Retail Managers to maximise the value of stock
  • Ensure that hospice safeguarding procedures are followed

Financial Trading

  • Support the management team to ensure that financial targets on income and expenditure are met or exceeded.
  • Comply with all financial procedures and reconciliation, including producing weekly reports on sales to management.
  • Comply with the Retail Gift Aid scheme and ensure that it is captured and maximised on donation of goods
  • Contribute to the set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and ensure that they are reached to aid the expansion of the online operation

Service Improvement

  • Establish innovative new online trading and business opportunities to increase income e.g. Amazon, ABE Books, Depop/Vinted, Shpock, Discogs
  • Track listing impressions and click through rates to identify and suggest positive practices/ areas for improvement
  • Contribute to forward planning and online sales development.
  • Monitor and respond to market conditions tailoring stock mix to opportunities and competitor activity
  • Work with the Marketing Team to identify promotional opportunities

Legislative Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all Hospice H&S policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Trading Standards
  • Adhere to all online trading platform standards, policies, and T&C's
  • Ensure that GDPR is adhered to in all areas

Person Specification

- Specialist knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Experience and knowledge of online trading activity within a commercial business setting
  • IT skills in Microsoft Office, online platforms and the internet.
  • Good language skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of marketing principles in support of business goals

Desirable

  • Photography experience
  • Knowledge of antiques/ specialist / higher value goods/fashion brands
