We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-orientated individual to fill the position of full-time dispenser.

You will be responsible for accurately and efficiently dispensing prescription medications whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Additionally, you will be assisting with stock management, medication labelling and other tasks as needed to support the Dispensary Manager.

You must have excellent communicational skills, the ability to work on your own as well as within a team and be highly motivated to deliver excellent patient care.


Responsibilities:


  • Receive and interpret prescription orders from patients and healthcare providers.
  • Accurately dispense prescription medications, including blister packs and appliances, according to established protocols.
  • Endorse all prescription forms as appropriate.
  • Collect all due prescription charges from patients and ensure the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient and that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and a record kept of all financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations and dispensary policies.
  • Checking expiry dates quarterly, highlighting drugs due to expire in next three months and removing expired stock from the computer system.
  • Safely disposing of returned, unused medication and ensuring necessary records are maintained.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, including answering queries and addressing concerns about medications.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering, restocking and rotation of medication and supplies and passing on invoices for payment.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
  • Count and check prescriptions and endorsements ready for submission at the end of each month.
  • Complete monthly checking of the drug tariff for price and category changes and monitor DM+D browser daily.
  • Complete some reception duties whilst at branch surgery.
  • Maintain compliance with statutory and mandatory training.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other clinical staff to ensure efficient and effective dispensary operations.

Person Specification:


Experience

Essential

  • NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Pharmacy Services
  • Experience of working in General Practice or Pharmacy and have dispensed for at least 1000 hours over the last 5 years.
