GSL Education are currently working in partnership with a school based in Stockport who are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants who have had experience of working with young people or adults who have complex needs.

If you have existing experience ofworking within the care sector, you are more than likely suitable for this role.

The school caters for pupils aged 2 years to 25 years, and provides tailored care and education to support pupils with Learning Difficulties, Complex Health Needs and Autism.

The school has on average around 130 pupils that are based in either the primary schoolor the college site.
The schools approach is one that offers a safe and calm learning environment tailored to pupils specific needs.

On a recent visit to the school site, we saw a simulation of an area that reflected what a real life working road would consist of.

This was createdtoraise awareness of road safety and of the risks involved.

The team is made up of teachers, support staff as well as a specialist team of therapists and nursing staff all of whom specialise in complex physical disabilities, sensory processing needs and health needs.

As well as working with a team of experts, the school provides state of the Art learning resources and highly specialised learning environments which cater for their pupils needs.

The pupils really are at the heart of everything this school provides.

Person Specification:

  • GCSE English and Maths (grade A-C/4 or above) or level 2 equivalent is a requirement for these positions.
  • Experience supporting children and young people or adults with complex health needs preferred.
  • These are physically demanding roles with a requirement to keep up with the active students who may like to run, use adapted bikes and go in the swimming pool.
  • Delivering personal care is also a part of this role, so an open mind and willingness to carry out this role is a must
  • An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service is essential
