Group Overview


Clifford Chance's Tech//Digital Group sits within our London Corporate Practice and looks after the focused needs of clients dealing with TMT sector and wider technology issues.

This group serves a cross-practice group of clients, including banks, financial investors and corporates spanning every sector - and regularly deals with a roster of major TMT businesses on their focused sector issues.

Our lawyers cover a range of corporate, commercial and technology focused issues - from M&A to business process and IT outsourcing, complex technology arrangements and business separation agreements.

Furthermore, we tackle cutting-edge legal and regulatory issues related to technology, including data privacy and protection; cyber and information security; and technology ethics.


Our group, which is ranked as a Tier 1 firm in Legal 500, is a market-leader in providing innovative solutions to both the TMT industry and across the range of other sectors we provide legal products to.

We have substantial global resources, with dedicated TMT sector focus and Tech teams throughout our network.


Who you will work with


As a key part of the London Tech strategy, you will primarily serve the M&A requirements of clients operating in the Telecoms, Media and Tech sectors (These will include Telcos and other network infrastructure providers, Tech companies, and media houses,).

Notably there will be extensive work with clients in the technology space, where we are seeing significant M&A activity.


As an increase in tech/data-driven transactions continues, you will also be in a team which provides transactional support to the wider firm.

These are often with key strategic clients we commit to providing tech transaction support which allows us to cement our relationships further and enhances our credibility as a market leader in all types of Tech work.


You will work in our close knit London Tech/Digital team of data privacy, IT/outsourcing and IP specialists which is the Firm's hub for telecoms and media sector expertise, co-ordinating efforts across the Firm on strategy, client/business development and thought leadership.


What you will be responsible for
As an associate in our leading practice you will work at the forefront of the market advising TMT clients and provide tech transaction support to a wider client group:

  • You will provide corporate/M&A expertise predominantly on complex M&A transactions, large scale re-organisations and join venture arrangements as well as corporate advisory work.
  • You will be working as part of crossborder and interdisciplinary teams to advise on corporate finance activities, ensuring compliance with local laws and business requirements.
  • Developing relationships with clients and actively engaging in business development and thought leadership initiatives and seeking out opportunities for new work.
  • Drafting legal documents clearly and concisely, creating solutions using legal knowledge and commercial judgement to advise and support leading multinational corporates.

Qualifications:


Your career experience so far
You will have a solid background in corporate/M&A work at a reputable firm and a passion for deal execution.


You will have proven M&A experience, advising clients coupled with a strong desire to develop a career of specializing in the Technology space.


You will be globally minded and possess excellent legal skills, combined with the ability to provide commercial solutions to clients and excellent transactional and managements skills.

You will naturally be able to demonstrate excellent document drafting skills. You should demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills along with a high level of commercial awareness.


You will need to demonstrate that you can thrive in a team with high professional standards and a flexible client-friendly commercial approach.

You will have had strong exposure of collaborating with multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary teams.


It is crucial that you can demonstrate an appetite for business development, client relationship management and thought leadership as well as a strong desire to develop your capability in this thriving sector.
