Do you have experience of facilitating good charity governance, ideally within an international charity or membership organisation?


We are working with a charity who supports hundreds of thousands of children and families around the world to recruit for an International Governance Officer.

Reporting to Director of Finance and Corporate Resources you will provide a high-quality service to support the Boards, committees, and Secretariat to fulfil their governance responsibilities.

About the role

This is full time (35 hours per week), permanent contract.

The role is fully remote but will occasionally require you to travel internationally and within the UK to attend meetings.

The salary is £33,000 - £36,000 depending on experience.


As the International Governance Officer, you will play a key role in facilitating the charity's journey towards the ambition of an Alliance led by local Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), with an effective approach to collective leadership, compliance, and accountability.


You will work closely with the chairs and trustees of all Boards, recognising the diversity of their backgrounds, to ensure they are supported and equipped to fulfil their legal duties, make informed, strategic decisions, and deliver their responsibilities.


To be considered you will have:

  • Good understanding of international development and/or international membership organisations
  • Experience of facilitating good charity governance, ideally within an international charity or membership organisation, including experience of working with senior management teams and trustees
  • Demonstrable understanding and awareness of governance models, current best practice and up to date legal requirements of charity governance
  • Experience of project management and effectively managing stakeholders and risks to meet agreed targets and timescales.
  • Experience of working with local CSOs, acknowledging the challenges such agencies face in their daytoday work.
