The Role
We are looking for a Night-shift supervisor who would enjoy working at Buxton Crescent & Old Hall Hotel.

The Night-shift supervisor will work with the Duty Manager, Reception Manager to ensuring the smooth operations within the Front of House section, Reception, Porters, throughout the night.


To deliver an exceptional high level of service which exceeds all guests' expectations, by greeting all our guests in a warm and welcoming manner to create exceptional first impressions.


Overview of the role

  • To check guest in and out of the system quickly and efficiently
  • To ensure public areas are clean and tidy after last guest retires and returned to standard layout.
  • To ensure that the hotel has the correct information and requirements for all guests as they check in
  • To be knowledgeable about the local area, attractions, directions and facilities and to supply this information to guests on request
  • Ensure all lights & unnecessary electrical equipment are switched off to save energy.
  • To ensure restaurants and breakfast ovens ready for Breakfast Chef and to prepare and serve any orders before 0700 hrs.
  • Sort and prepare daily papers for guests.
  • To complete daily checklist and pass completed list to Duty Manager at end of shift
  • To answer the phones within three rings and to transfer any calls as necessary with an appropriate talk line
  • To ensure that all departing guests are satisfied that their bill is correct before making payment
  • To be responsible for ensuring the validation of any payments made to you by credit card machine
  • To be fully conversant with Hotel Fire Procedures should the need arise. In order to ensure safety of guests and staff alike.
  • Competently handle any type of complaint, refer where appropriate to DM
  • To serve food and drink to residents after normal hours.
  • To collect & process all breakfast slip orders and pass to Room Service to avoid complaints in the morning.
  • To complete Night Porters' Report Book reference security checks carried out, Room Service master keys, times handed in/out etc.
  • To carry out early morning calls as requested by guests.
  • To be fully conversant with licensing laws
  • To be able to deal with intoxicated customers calmly and efficiently without becoming over friendly or too involved
  • To assist Conference & Banqueting team with servicing of meeting rooms, movement of tables and chairs, and out of hour's turnaround of banqueting rooms

  • Previous night's porter
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Reliable, Efficient and proactive
  • Confident and effective communicator who can converse at all levels
  • High levels of personal presentation and grooming
