People Systems and Data Team Leader


Do you have a passion for delivering a great user experience, a keen eye for detail, an interest in HR and want to develop yourself in an HR Systems and Reporting leadership role? Then we have an exciting opportunity leading a small HR Systems and Reporting Team, working closely with the wider HR Operational Excellence and Transformational leads to deliver support to the wider function.

The role will report to the Head of Operational Excellence alongside peers responsible for People Analytics, Systems and Process change, Risk and Governance.

Role Overview:

The purpose of this role is to lead, motivate and direct a team of people responsible for the maintenance of systems and the design and production of high quality business information; ensuring that data and change governance, data quality and management processes are embedded within our systems.

We are currently operating across three systems; SAP SuccessFactors, Trent and Resourcelink.


We have an ambitious plan to be on a single platform, SuccessFactors, over the next few years and are part way through an exciting data transformation programme of work.


This role is critical to the further development of our HR systems and data capability ensuring we are able to operate a broader range of functionality through our HR Systems as we align.

We aim to provide higher quality data and have a more integrated approach across all our systems as we transition to a single platform.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Leading, developing and motivating the HR Systems and Data team
  • Working closely with the wider Transformation Leads to streamline administrative processes and improve HR systems
  • Overseeing system maintenance and changes, identifying, testing and implementing improvements and updates
  • Resolving escalated complaints and technical referrals from the team
  • Supporting product releases, creating procedure documents and user guides to assist system users
  • Providing peoplerelated information and reports inline with GDPR requirements
  • Championing quality and actively inputting into root cause analysis and corrective action processes
  • Driving and influencing quality monitoring reviews and discussions
  • Implementing effective business partnering in the design/production/governance of management information and system build across the function
  • Building strong relationships to continuously improve our data quality and system utilisation
  • Driving a culture of data stewardship, ensuring the team manage and govern data appropriately at each stage of the value chain.

Skills and Experience:


  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Responsibility of leading and managing a team
  • Experience of using and maintaining HRIS and similar systems and generating reports
  • ResourceLink, SuccessFactors or Trent is highly desirable
  • Proven understanding of relational databases and general data management
  • Experience with data wrangling software such as Alteryx and visualisation such as MicroStrategy is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of setting clear targets, focussing on priorities, regularly reviewing actual performance and adjusting where required
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in order to get things done and encourage the team to be open and willing to change
  • Familiar with legislation relating to use and storage of data
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft office packages including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to understand detailed business requirements and translate into technical solutions
  • Problem solving and solutions focussed
  • Proactive and enthusiastic with a 'can do' attitude.
