Join us as a Specialist Business Control Partner in Anti-Money Laundering

  • This specialist role will see you partnering with the NatWest Markets business and Risk function to identify, assess and manage its risks within agreed risk appetite, using the bank's risk framework
  • Within this specialist capacity, you'll make a vital contribution to driving a generative culture of risk awareness, recommending solutions to operations risk issues within the businesses and strengthening the level of ownership within the business

What you'll do:


We'll look to you to deliver a robust risk governance framework in line with the operational risk handbook and conduct and compliance handbook.

You'll also support relevant specialist risk activity, to build credible and realistic plans to move and sustain a control environment certification rating with risk appetite.


In addition, you'll be reviewing high risk client relationships for different entity types that have a relationship with Natwest Markets in accordance with anti-money laundering policy guidance and procedures.

You'll also be providing advisory support for financial crime queries and escalations from operations and front-line teams.

Other key responsibilities are to include:

  • Escalating emerging risks in a timely manner and making sure actions are quickly defined and owned
  • Providing riskbased decisions in regard to our financial crime risk appetites and supporting the delivery of high quality, comprehensive risk assessments
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of franchise specific customer due diligence management information and assisting with the risk assessments frameworks
  • Contributing to the definition, implementation and continuous improvement of MI reporting processes
  • Supporting customer due diligence operations teams with training requirements to improve quality issues, as well as supporting franchise reviews for financial crime exit referrals
  • Supporting colleagues in completing the risk assessments through ongoing liaison and stakeholder management

The skills you'll need:


To be successful in this role you'll need good analytical, investigative and research skills and the ability to produce high quality reports, as well as good communication skills, particularly in relation to written communication and summarising documents.


You'll also need knowledge of Natwest Markets or similar typical customer base and product types including the financial crime risks they pose to the bank, along with a good understanding of the customer due diligence requirements for different entity types including various country-specific uplift requirements.


On top of this, you'll bring:

  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to assimilate both regulatory policies and procedures and make riskbased decisions.
  • The ability to challenge business issues in order to support riskbased solutions that address regulatory needs and are appropriate to the business
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels
