Operations Business Partner ( Underwriting )


As part of Munich Re's wider strategic goals, the Operations Business Partner for Underwriting acts as a go-to person on all operational topics (Operations Delivery, Change, Data, Operations Excellence) for our respective businesses and functions.


You will identify areas of improvement (both transformational and business-as-usual), ensures alignment between Operations and the respective business and functional strategies and enables an open way of collaboration and exchange both ways.


Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with the Underwriting community as the key interface, to develop awareness and knowledge of their priorities, business drivers and internal/external factors which will support achieving strategic goals
  • Keeping affected executives and other Operations team members aware, educated on and invested in activities within Underwriting
  • Creating cross functional portfolio plans (both transformational and businessasusual) that connect with other business units to identify interdependencies and/or conflicts
  • Contribute to a continuous improvement mentality across the respective function by leveraging capabilities in place across the Operations teams including process management, operational resilience, change, data
  • Keep track of findings, actions and projects aimed at improving operational resilience for the respective function, by e.g. maintaining a close relationship with all process owners in the respective function and by picking up issues, problems and challenges early on and channel these to the appropriate channels to adopt a proactive approach to both running and transforming the business
  • Working closely with the Operations Delivery team, drive key operational and process improvement initiatives to ensure business operations deliver business outcomes
  • Deliver longrange strategic plans through alignment of strategy, structure, processes, people.
  • Identifying opportunities to utilize data for gaining a competitive advantage within the Global Specialty Insurance Industry and the London Market.
  • Key contributor to our datadriven initiatives, ensuring that data is leveraged strategically to drive business growth and competitiveness.
  • Holistic view of all topics to ensure maximum use of resource, budget and teams across multiple initiatives to prevent duplication and understand impacts for data teams and gaps in spend

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong exposure within Insurance industry, especially with Underwriting
  • Comprehensive understanding of the London market and Lloyd's environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Lloyd's Principles for Doing Business.
  • Understanding of business strategy and the work of the other departments within the organisation.
  • Awareness of the considerations and requirements driven by insurance laws, regulations and other governance bodies across a variety of geographies, lines of business and distribution channels
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, initiatives and BAU topics across multiple parts of the business to deliver strategic objectives in accordance with set deadlines
  • A proven track record in delivering a suite of strategic planning and business transformation consulting services, specifically with underwriting & distribution experience
  • Demonstrable ability to proactively build relationships and manage client stakeholders, including providing robust advice, constructive challenge, influencing decisions, delivering difficult messages and managing performance issues
