Description

The role is to undertake comprehensive oculoplastic and general ophthalmology work in Portsmouth at Queen Alexandra Hospital, alongside an existing team of 2 Consultant Oculoplastic Specialists.


Queen Alexandra Hospital is a large modern acute medical facility with a state of the art ITU, large theatre complex and an on-site Radiotherapy and Oncology centre.

The Ophthalmology Department provides a full range of emergency and elective services. The department has dedicated local anaesthetic theatres, an emergency clinic facility and a comprehensive diagnostic imaging suite.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate fully in developing ophthalmic services, training and research.

There is a bi-weekly teaching session on a Wednesday afternoon which involves the Consultants, Junior Doctors and nursing and orthoptic staff.

There are regular departmental morbidity and mortality meetings and regional collaboration for teaching/training.
