Description

This exciting opportunity is for an activities co-ordinator to join our team to work 37.5 hours a week, which will be spread over 5 days during the afternoon (late shifts - from 11h30 to 19h30) and will include the occasional weekend work according to patient's needs.

We have a post available on Shand Stroke Unit (Mixed Speciality Ward - Stroke and Neuro Rehab and Acute Medicine based at Bedford NHS Trust).

The post holder is required to support qualified nurses and other professionals within our multi-disciplinary team.

Ward staff will identify suitable patients for the Activities co-coordinator to work with on a daily basis; this would normally be those requiring additional support or supervision.

Providing a calm approach with emotional validation and interaction can often improve the experience and interaction can often improve the experience and outcomes for patients with dementia and/or a level of neurological deficit and their carers.

The post holder will be responsible for the provision, development and implementation of activity based patient group sessions and sessions focusing on group and individual 1:1 work.

The post holder will also support the multi-disciplinary team in providing a comprehensive programme of activities to meet the needs of the patient group.
