Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Clinical Psychologist (Band 4) to work in the Spires Cleft Centre at Salisbury District Hospital.
The post will be a 12 month fixed term contract, 0.4 WTE (2 days) in the first instance.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialised and dynamic multidisciplinary team, working with children and adults born with a cleft lip and palate and their families.
This post involves working within an experienced and supportive multi-disciplinary team of surgical, medical, speech therapy and nursing colleagues.
Psychology is well established and highly valued by the cleft team and the post holder will offer support to the qualified psychologist in assessment and intervention to children, young people and adults experiencing psychological distress in relation to having a visible difference, difficulties with the functional consequences of their condition or difficulties coping with cleft-related treatment.
The role includes conducting developmental and cognitive assessments and the scoring and recording of psychological measures. There is also scope for supervised low-intensity direct clinical work. Further, the Spires Cleft Centre is research active and there will be opportunities to gain experience in this area.
Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology and ideally have some experience in working with children and/or in health settings, together with a strong academic record, ability and enthusiasm.
