An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time enthusiastic and motivated experienced ward clerk to join our team on Ward 36, NCCC.

We are looking for a reliable and highly organised individual who has excellent communication skills.

You must also be able to demonstrate an adaptable, enthusiastic approach to your work, and the ability to manage your workload with various competing demands for your attention within a busy clinical area.

You must be able to be courteous, respectful and helpful at all times.
Interview Date: 23rd May 202- Full time 37 hours 30 minutes/week

  • Shift pattern 4 shifts per week (x2 08:0017:45 and x2 08:0018:00) operating over a 7 day service.
Basic IT knowledge is essential. Previous NHS experience with e-record and working within a ward clerk environment is desirable. Training will be provided for use on the chemocare system used within Ward 36.

The role involves providing a front line clerical service to clinical staff within the ward, ensuring an appropriate standard of support is delivered in a timely manner.

You will provide a meet and greet service to visitors, patients and staff.

A key responsibility for the post holder is to ensure the timely and accurate inputting of data is captured for all daycase and outpatient activity, admissions, transfers and discharges of patients.

Additional duties will include stock ordering, supporting the nursing team and bed management team.

The post is to join our three existing ward clerks and participate in a rotational team covering the front desk reception and nurses station reception as well as rotation of shifts covering a 7 day service with weekend work essential.

The working hours of the role will be 8-6pm Monday-Sunday. Ward clerks work 4 days per week on a rotational shift pattern.

  • To provide and maintain efficient and effective administrative support to the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensures case notes, investigations, Xrays and results are available for new admissions, ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • To ensure that case notes are correctly maintained following departmental guidelines and compliance with legislation (Caldicott Guidelines etc).Ensuring PAS system is up to date and accurate.
