Electrical Controls Engineer

Leeds

£60,000 - £70,000


Alecto Recruitment are working with one of the leaders within the Carbon Capture industry who is searching for a Controls Engineer to work on their new contracts with some major players in the industry.


Job Specification:

  • Full time, permanent position, Monday to Friday (flexible hours)

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of a team with experienced process engineers and Chemists, to create and develop product control designs.
  • Pursue market leading technologies to utilise the most up to date control designs.
  • Deliver innovative technical advancements in control solutions for a demanding and technically complex environment.
  • Modify and design from new Schneider and Unistream PLCs based control systems.
  • Specifying, implementing, maintaining and improving electrical equipment on lab and pilot equipment together with chemists and process engineers
  • Produce electrical drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Estimate (electrical) projects costs and delivery timelines
  • Manage and train the junior electrical and controls engineer.
  • Train and work with process sensors engineer and lab technician to maintain upgrade pilot and lab equipment.

Must Have:

  • Experience of programming in IEC 61131 languages
  • Full Driving License
  • Computer literate, with structured understanding of software design
  • A good understanding of industrial communication protocols Modbus etc
  • Ability to design, implement, install and maintain electrical systems, trouble shoot problems and rectify.
  • Ability to write technical documentation.
  • Relevant degree or experience (HND, apprenticeship, BSc)
  • 3 to 5 or more years work experience in electrical engineering or similar role

Non-essential skills, but nice to have:

  • SQL database design and development
  • Understanding of Python
  • A process engineering background
  • Map the data from the PLC/SCADA system to SQL data tables.
  • Perform acceptance testing to ensure data translation from PLC to database is correct.
  • Wider programming skills
