Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Irigoyen Group in the Division of Virology at the University of Cambridge, working on cutting-edge science in Neuroscience and Virology.

Dr Nerea Irigoyen's research group aims to understand how the Zika virus lineages induce neuropathogenesis and neurotropism to answer which cellular pathways drive virus-induced pathogenesis, how host responses differ between different lineages and how these differences are linked to viral genetics.

The role:

The postdoctoral research associate will work on a Wellcome Trust-funded project that, in a comprehensive approach, will compare viral replication, viral gene expression, and host responses in a series of tractable models selected to reproduce the in vivo development of the human brain, including cerebral organoids in collaboration with Prof.

Rangnhildur Thóra Káradottir and Dr Andras Lakatos.

The post holder will combine RNA sequencing and ribosome profiling methods established in the Irigoyen lab to measure virus and host responses.

We also offer the opportunity to learn new skills for personal and professional development.

Fixed-term: the funds for this post are available for 36 months in the first instance. Required visa costs will be covered.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
