What an ASEND TA Role Is

We are looking for a confident Teaching Assistant to support an Autistic pupil in New Barnet.

ASEND Teaching Assistants support children face to face in a range of settings such as schools, community centres and homes, alongside our experienced tutors.

Manychildren with SEND have struggled to engage or stay in the classroom and some are not attending school any more.


You may be an experienced teaching assistant, support worker or have experience of working with children in a therapeutic way.

One of your aims will be to support and re-engage a pupil in their learning and continue their educational development.


Our pupils have a range of individual needs and abilities, and we work very hard to match the Teaching Assistants with the child who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About Our Young Person


We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join one of our experienced tutors with a 4 year old girl.

She is developing her language, literacy and social skills.

She enjoys outdoor learning and sensory playing such as painting and playing with the playdoughShe has an adventurous spirit and is able to lead herself with things she enjoys playing with.


This is a wonderful opportunity to join a really supportive and inclusive team who want the best of their pupils.

ASEND has been putting a lot of work into planning the appropriate support and is keen to place someone with the right attitude and skills.

Who are we looking for?

  • Have some experience with SEN; such as Speech and Language needs, Attachment Difficulties, and Autism
  • Be passionate about helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
  • Be able to build a rapport and strong relationship with children, their families and other team members
  • Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning and use a personcentred approach in their work
  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that they plan and do
  • Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement in mental health and confidence.
