    Job Opportunity

    The global energy demand is expected to increase by 50% by 2050, making High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology crucial for a sustainable future. Our Grid Integration business unit in the UK & Ireland is growing rapidly, and we need an experienced Legal Counsel to support our teams.

    We are looking for a high-calibre transactional Legal Counsel with 4-5 years of PQE experience in major construction and engineering projects. You will provide legal advice and integrity guidance on complex tenders and projects, including HVDC interconnectors, offshore projects, and power quality solutions.

    You will draft and negotiate EPC agreements, applying your legal expertise to represent our interests within Hitachi Group governance. As part of our UK & European legal team, you will collaborate with international colleagues on cross-jurisdictional projects, sharing knowledge and experiences.

    Your Background

    • You are a good team player, structured, open-minded, and communicative.
    • Experience in construction & energy projects sectors, proficient in drafting, commenting on, and negotiating tenders and contractual agreements for complex national and international projects.
    • Drafting and negotiating standard forms of construction and EPC contracts, particularly NEC, with preferable experience with FIDIC.
    • Developed effective legal strategies, mitigation actions, and practical solutions in support of business activities.
    • Reviewed RFQs/ITTs from a legal perspective, inputting into tender preparation, risk identification, negotiation of contracts, framework agreements, and consortium agreements.
    • Supported project teams during sales, execution, and warranty phases, contributing to early dispute avoidance and conflict management.
    • Provided legal training and awareness, including training on contract negotiation.
    • University degree in Law or applicable area.
