MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES The post holder will be expected to: support in the management of clinical post and prioritising for the GP and where appropriate other clinical roles in terms of required actions. what does this mean? Does this mean line management of clinical posts, if so what posts? what does this include and entail?


Are you able to expand? support with the management of clinical documents, to include extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes and deletion of duplicate Docman records.

arrange appointments, referrals (eg Diabetes Prevention Programme), tests and follow up appointments of patients.

support with the administration of Pathlinks, including redistribution of results where no owner has been identified, recording of results for bowel screening and cervical screening.

support with the administration of Diabetic Eye Screening results. support with the management of Chronic Disease by utilising the Q Risk Calculator, escalating any concerns to senior clinicians.

prepare patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the appointment (when required).

undertake defined clinical tasks which may include dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy.


undertake regular stock takes of clinical rooms, ensuring that all items are in date and removal of any out of date stock in line with Practice policy.

support with the ordering of stock or equipment.

undertake regular audits of resuscitation and first aid equipment at the practice to ensure all are fully operational and have undergone annual checks.

Highlighting any issues to a relevant member of the team.

support the GP with defined immunisations/wound care.

complete basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc.

explain treatment procedures to patients help the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g.

getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s) act as a chaperone as needed.


COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The post holder will be required to work alongside all members of Much Birch Practice and wider Taurus Healthcare teams including: Operations Manager Reception Team Medical Secretaries General Practitioners Nurses Advanced Nurse Practitioners Health Care Assistants South and West PCN employed ARRS staff Clinical Directors Quality Team Human Resources PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT To attend mandatory training and fire lectures regularly and assist with fire policy/evacuation procedure when necessary.

To keep up to date with and attend training on revisions to information systems or changes in protocols for the inputting of data in the light of Local and national initiatives.

To adhere to agreed protocols at all times.

To participate in Individual Performance Review and Personal Development plans on an annual basis and to undertake training and development as identified within these discussions and as indicated by the requirements of the post.


CLINICAL GOVERNANCE AND QUALITY ASSURANCE To realise the importance of confidentiality when dealing with patients and staff, particularly when giving or receiving information over the telephone in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

Maintain the high standards of the service by contributing towards individual, team and service objectives and acting at all times in the best interest of patients.

To accurately collect, collate and input data to Information Systems as required by procedures to ensure that patient database records are up to date and accurate.

To participate in Individual Performance Review and Personal Development plans on an annual basis and to undertake training and development as identified within these discussions and as indicated by the requirements of the post.

Post-holders must maintain high standards of quality in corporate and clinical record keeping ensuring information is always recorded accurately and kept up to date.

The post-holder must only access information, whether paper, electronic or in other media, which is authorised to them as part of their duties.
