Description of Paces Sheffield:

Paces Sheffield is presently a specialist centre and charity for children and adults with neurological conditions (mainly cerebral palsy)


Paces delivers Conductive Education:

a holistic package of support that aims to help individuals obtain the greatest level of independence through a range of supportive measures.

Paces meets the physical and cognitive needs of individuals which are often not met holistically elsewhere.


Paces Sheffield was established in 1995; the organisation was born out of the experiences of parenting pupils with physical disabilities and their related learning difficulties.


Parents, staff, governors and trustees have overseen the growth of Paces as a charity, with the school gaining Non-Maintained Special School status in 2009.

Paces School (rated Good by Ofsted in 2019) currently has 51 children from ages 3-18, the school provides a personalised curriculum based on the National Curriculum through the framework of Conductive Education.

Paces has a Family Service Team and an Outreach Team that supports approximately 20 families each year.


Paces also has adult day service and in addition to this also operates a Sessional Conductive Education Programme for individuals with Parkinson's and for individuals who have survived a stroke.


Job Summary:


The role will be to support the Conductor / Teacher with a variety of tasks to ensure that the planning and implementing of the daily Conductive Education programme is completed correctly and all procedures and policies are followed accordingly over the lunchtime period.


Role and Responsibilities:

The post holder will undertake all tasks required within the remit of this role, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting the delivery of Conductive Education programmes.
  • Support appropriate mealtimes related activities.
  • Assist and take part in planning and implementing daily programmes under the direction of the conductorteacher/teacher with a focus on supporting pupils with safe eating and drinking.
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist the conductorteacher/teacher in any other appropriate ways.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and a responsibility towards promoting the educational and developmental potential of all children.
  • Treat the children/young people with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to the school at all times.
  • Attend recommended training programmes for their own professional development.
  • To undertake Performance Management on a yearly cycle. This will be informed by observations and discussions throughout the year.
  • Undertakes other duties commensurate with the post as requested by line management.
  • Follow the relevant school policies and practices including but limited to:
Ø Safeguarding policy, Health and Safety policy, Equality policy, Staff Code of Conduct.
